James brings over 30 years of executive leadership, investment advisory and operating experience serving ultra-high-net-worth wealth advisory and institutional asset management organizations. With a strong investment foundation across both traditional and alternative asset classes, James helps clients achieve their long-term financial goals through thoughtful investment advice that is integrated with all other aspects of their wealth planning. James works in close collaboration with his clients’ broader team of professional advisers to create highly personalized investment solutions to preserve and grow their wealth.
Prior to joining Bordeaux Wealth Advisors, James was the CEO of a global single-family office where he was responsible for setting the strategic vision of the firm, driving growth, ensuring operating efficiency and delivering an excellent client service experience. Previously, he served in executive capacities serving ultra-high-net-worth families as COO of Harris myCFO, and as Principal and CAO of Gresham Partners. The foundation of James’ investment career was developed during the 13 years he spent at William Blair & Company culminating in serving as the CFO of the institutional asset management group.
At Michigan State University, James earned a BA with honors in Financial Administration and won the Financial Executives Institute Award for Academic Excellence. He holds an MBA in Finance, Management and Strategy and Organizational Behavior from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. James is a CFA charterholder and member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco. He also serves as a Finance Advisory Board member for The Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University.
James resides in Menlo Park, California and has two children attending university. During his leisure time, James enjoys traveling, exploring art, wine collecting, playing golf, and running.
